Jane
Powell Joins Ranks of Paper Studio Press Star Paper Dolls
Jane
Powell, the dainty little blonde whose superb coloratura soprano voice
made her an instant star in the 40s and 50s is the latest
subject to become a paper doll. First as a pretty teen-ager and then
a lovely young woman, Jane Powell sang her way to stardom in many hit
movies, notably A Date With Judy, Royal Wedding and
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Although
Jane Powell was the subject of several paper doll and coloring books
in the past, this paper doll book featuring all movie clothes, is a
brand new work by popular artist Marilyn Henry. When a teen-ager herself,
the artist drew a paper doll of her idol, teen star Jane Powell which
she saved over the years and presented it to the delighted star when
the two met at last years National Paper Doll Convention. Now,
decades later, Marilyn Henry is fulfilling a lifelong dream come true
by creating a glamorous book including her many costumes from the stars
hits films.
The
Jane Powell Paper Doll Book, to be published in the fall of 2009, adds
yet another star from Hollywoods Golden Age to the growing catalog
of vintage-inspired publications from Paper Studio Press, and will
be available from Paperdoll
Review, Amazon.com, specialty websites and catalogs as well as selected
stores and shops.
